Shape Memory Effect and Superelasticity of [001]-Oriented FeNiCoAlNb Single Crystals Aged under and without Stress

چکیده
The two-step ageing of Fe-28Ni-17Co-11.5Al-2.5Nb (at.%) single crystals under and without stress, leads to the precipitation γ′- β-phase particles. Research has shown that γ–α′ thermoelastic martensitic transformation (MT), with shape memory effect (SME) superelasticity (SE), develops in [001]-oriented tension. SE was observed within range from temperature start MT upon cooling Ms, end reverse heating Af, at temperatures Af 323–373 K. It found crystals, particles, a high level elastic energy, ΔGel, is generated, which significantly exceeds energy dissipation, ΔGdis. As result, MT, while As, became lower than Ms. development stress occurs values hardening coefficient, Θ = dσ/dε 2 8 GPa low mechanical Δσ thermal ΔTh hysteresis. reasons for an increase ΔGel during are discussed.

متن کاملShape memory effect and superelasticity in a strain glass alloy.
The shape memory effect and superelasticity are usually found in alloys exhibiting spontaneous martensitic transformation. Thus it is hard to imagine that such interesting effects can appear in a system without a martensitic transformation. In this Letter we show shape memory and the superelasticity effect in a nonmartensitic Ti48.5Ni51.5 alloy, which has no martensitic transformation but under...
متن کاملExperimental Study on the Magnetomechanical Characteristics of Ni-Mn-Ga Ferromagnetic Shape Memory Alloy Single Crystals
Magnetic shape memory properties of Ni-Mn-Ga single crystals were characterized by measurement of stress-induced martensite reorientation under constant magnetic fields. Also magnetic field-induced strain as a function of the applied magnetic field under different constant compressive stress levels has been investigated. All the experiments were performed at room temperature in which the sample...

Shape memory and superelasticity in polycrystalline Cu–Al–Ni microwires
We report a strategy to significantly improve the ductility and achieve large superelastic and shape memory strains in polycrystalline Cu–Al–Ni shape memory alloys that are normally brittle. We use a liquid-phase Taylor wire forming process to obtain microwires of 10–150 m diameter with a bamboo grain structure. The reduction of grain boundary area, removal of triple junctions, and introduction...
